Savings
On August 8, 2005,
President George W. Bush signed the Energy
Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change dates for
Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second

Citizens Energy Assistance Program
A group of concerned
citizens in the Town of
The fund will be
administered by a CEAP Committee chaired by Supervisor Daniel Sturm as part of
the Bethel Local Development Corporation (BLDC). An application for
recipients is being developed. One of the criteria is to have received a
2008 HEAP rejection letter. Applications for CEAP assistance will be

Town Clerks are concerned about their residents having to choose between heating
and eating this winter. A non-perishable food drive will be held at

The Bicentennial
Parade and Fair is July 11, 2009. Parade and fair letters are going out
this week to organization Presidents within the Town of
The Bicentennial is
holding a Bicentennial Raffle starting next week as a fundraiser. The
Committee will be selling tickets until May 16, 2009. There are over 20
gift certificates donated from local businesses. Tickets will be on sale
$1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.
Start collecting
your period costumes now from the attic, thrift stores, etc. to participate in
our theme events. Also, donations of good clothing will be accepted, old
hats, skirts, shirts, etc. that look like the 1800’s and can be dropped off at
Town Hall.
We are soliciting
space for a temporary Museum to be operated from May 2009 through September
2009. Items will be displayed from the Town Archives and family
collections in a safe, secure and proper manner.
The Commemorative
2009 Calendars will arrive the end of October. Calendars are $10.00
each. An order form is on the Town Website under the Bicentennial
Page. I am so exited about this product and can not wait to see
them!

Recycled
Printer Cartridges
The
Town Clerk’s Office will accept used laser and inkjet printer and copier
cartridges for recycling. Sullivan County Environmental (SPECS) will
receive cash for each cartridge recycled.
Operation
Support Our Troops
Stephanie Johnson
has been collecting and putting together care packages for the Troops for six
years. A website for more information and monetary donations has been set
up at www.West-Point.org/family/support-our-troops
to help with the high cost of postage. Copies of the lists of items will
be available at the
Flu
Clinic
This
year the flu clinic will be administered by Sullivan County Public Health
Nursing. No sign-up necessary. Bring your Medicare card with you.
Scheduled for October
17th from 10:00 a.m. – Noon. Free with Medicare card or
$15. Pneumonia shots will also be given.

The Fall Harvest
Festival is held every Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. through Columbus Day
Weekend at Bethel Woods. Vendors are located under a tent across the road

Market - The Farm Market area of the Festival will be filled with local
and regional growers offering everything from tomatoes and corn to jams,
pumpkins, perennials, mums, breads, cheeses, honey and maple syrup.

Zone - Early Bow season begins October 18th until November
14th. Rifle season begins November 15th until
December 7th. Late Bow season begins December 8th until December
16th.

Elections
General
Elections will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2008. (Town Hall will be
closed on Election Day). All polls open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 9:00
p.m. Elections will be held for President, Congressman and one seat on the
Bethel Town Board to fill the unexpired term of December 21, 2009.
Absentee ballot applications and registration cards are available at the Town
Clerk's Office or the Board of Elections. For voting information contact
the SC Board of Elections at (845) 794-3000 ext.
